The area of Antequera has a multitude of remote and spectacular areas for outdoor activities. It is the perfect environment for a weight loss and fitness holiday. The historic town is only a 5-minute taxi ride from the hotel and it is a true gem! With an incredible collection of churches, gorgeous patios, an imposing castle and some of the largest and oldest burial mounds in Europe. The legendary cities of Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Malaga are all within reach, as are the beaches of the Costa del Sol, the lake district of El Chorro, the incredible scenery of El Torcal Nature Reserve and the famous flamingo lake at Fuente de Piedra.

Your home during your weight loss and fitness holiday in Antequera is the lovely 4-star Hotel Finca Eslava.  All rooms are doubles or twins with private en-suite facilities.  There is no compulsory sharing; you only share with a friend or partner.

Hotel Finca Eslava is set right on the edge of Antequera, but only a short distance from the centre of town, which can be reached by taxi in 5 minutes.  The hotel rooms are all equipped with free internet-ADSL access, satellite TV, safety deposit boxes and independent air conditioning.  For guests seeking those extra-special touches, the hotel also has 2 fabulous junior suites, which are available at a supplement.

During your weight loss and fitness holiday, all meals are taken in the hotel restaurant, where the chefs produce a specially-prepared, “fad-free” menu, tailored to support your weight-loss and fitness goals. The menu uses locally-produced fresh foods and is based on the “Mediterranean Diet” style of eating, as recommended by all professional dieticians.

Aquaslava

Hotel Finca Eslava is equipped with a state-of-the-art sports centre “Aquaslava”. This is no ordinary hotel gym!  It has a 25-metre indoor swimming pool and fully-equipped weight training and cardio rooms, as well as a spinning studio and a brand-new spa; all of which we make use of during our weight loss and fitness holidays.

The hotel also has a lovely garden, in which you can relax and unwind throughout the year, as well as an outdoor pool which is usually available between June and September.

Antonio Cebrian – Managing Director / Guide / Trainer

Antonio is a former Technical Architect who left his career in the construction industry to pursue his primary passions: sports and nature.  He is a qualified fitness and spinning instructor, sports nutritionist and mountain bike instructor.

Antonio is also a keen hiker; he has hiked, mountain-biked or climbed all of the mountains in the Antequera area and extensively in Sierra Nevada, the Pyrenees and the Rif Mountains of North Africa.  In his spare time, Antonio teaches English to local Spanish children & adults.

David González – Guide

David is a native of Antequera and spent much of his childhood roaming the local mountains from his base in the family “casita” in the Sierra de El Torcal. He has hiked extensively in almost all of the mountain ranges of Andalucia and has also trekked in the Pyrenees, the Alps, the Atlas & Rif mountains of North Africa and in the Andes mountains of South America.

David´s lifelong love of the mountains and nature led him to study geography at university in Granada and to qualify as a fitness instructor, nutritionist and guide. As well as being an expert on geology, David has an incredible knowledge of the local flora and fauna (including a sometimes disturbing amount of detail on how to eat much of it!).

David leads on hikes and bike rides, as well as offering kayaking and rock climbing sessions for those with enough time (and energy!) to spare.


José González | Guide

RFH Fitness & Weight Loss Holidays Antequera: JoseJosé is David´s brother and they share a love of the outdoors.  He is a qualified mountain guide with experience of hiking the local mountains as well the Sierra Nevada, the Pyrenees and the Alps.

Leah Dodd – Trainer

Leah is a fully-qualified level 3 personal trainer and fitness instructor. She has worked in the fitness industry for 6 years, first running her own PT business in England and then opting for sunnier climes. She has also worked in Fuerteventura.

Leah teaches a range of studio based classes, including Spinning, Pilates, Aerobics, Step, Core, Toning/Conditioning, Stretch, Boxercise, and Zumba. She is also a Kettlebell Instructor.


Les Meehan – Life / EFT Coach

RFH Fitness & Weight Loss Holidays Antequera: LesLes, our ‘emotions coach’, has a broad knowledge of how your mind and body can help or hinder your progress in whatever you do. Les is currently engaged in senior executive performance enhancement coaching throughout Europe to multinational companies, such as Telefonica and O2, through his unique ‘Tapping Your Potential’ programme. It is from this background that Les brings to our clients his accumulated skills in the areas of perception, creativity, martial arts training and mind-body functionality to provide a unique perspective on the life challenges facing our clients.

Lissa Dells – Cognitive Coaching

Dr. Lissa Dells is a Canadian who works as a cognitive trainer and physiotherapist in her private practice in Antequera as well as with RFH Fitness. She is a qualified physiotherapist with a Ph.D.in Cognitive Science – the science of motivation and sustainable change. With 40 years of hands-on experience coaching clients of all ages to higher motivation & more stability in their fitness and metabolism, Lissa has worked with fitness holiday visitors in different parts of Spain for the last 30 years.

Metabolism coaching includes strategies to improve the quality of deep sleep and relaxation, toadjust to hormonal, seasonal & weight changes and to reduce work-related stresses. These stresses include frequent commuting and/or travelling, socialising with clients, managing co-workers, meeting major deadlines, as well as chronic muscle tension or fatigue from desk activities. Improving work-life balance results in more satisfaction with your fitness in the short term, in less burnout in the mid-term, in “ageing-well” in the long term.

Lissa has found that the RFH fitness holiday gives visitors who are serious about getting into better shape an ideal opportunity to get energised and put new routines in place so they can re-structure their life when they arrive home. Her user-friendly exercises are dual-purpose: they make it easier to “kick-start” better fitness & weight-management habits here on course, while providing a customised programme to ensure a smooth “re-entry” at home.

She offers various aftercare options to help them turn their holiday “kick-start” into a new life style, including links to recent journal articles on exercise, weight and metabolism.

Lissa says, “My coaching goal is to make sure that you have fun on course and that the benefits of your fitness holiday turn into a permanent part of your life.  If you are booked for 6 days or more, I offer a special RFH “kick-start” package of about 3 hours during your visit.  Included in the package is a free `get-acquainted´ call before arrival to discuss which exercises & strategies would be most suited to you.  If you then decide to work with me while you are here, at the end of your RFH stay I prepare a completely customised 2-page maintenance programme based on our work together, with short videos by motivational experts to view at home.  My aftercare call after you return home acts as extra support for your ´re-entry` to daily life.”

Isa Artacho – Physio / Massage therapist

RFH Fitness & Weight Loss Holidays Antequera: IsaIsabel (“Isa”) is a native of Antequera. As a Physiotherapist, she is experienced in the treatment of all types of injuries; she is also a qualified Swedish and Sports Massage Therapist and is certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture and herbal treatments. Isa is also a qualified Nutritionist and she has achieved great results working with overweight clients.

Like all of the team at RFH, Isa enjoys being active. She is a keen hiker and mountain biker and whenever work permits she joins in with our excursions to get out into the fresh air and take advantage of the beautiful countryside around Antequera.
