Please click the links below to see the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like any further information at all.

Are you open throughout the year?

Yes we are.

Can we arrive & depart on any day of the week?

Yes

What is the weather like?

From May to September, the weather is generally settled, with lots of gloriously warm sunny days. July & August can be very hot, but activities are usually scheduled to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

From October to April there are lots of sunny days. The daytime temperature ranges between 10-18 Centigrade (50-65 Fahrenheit), but the weather can be cold and rain is a distinct possibility (particularly from December to February), though it often lasts only a few hours.

Which is the best airport to fly in to?

It's a toss-up between Granada & Malaga. Both are less than 1 hour's drive away and we offer transfers to and from them. Seville airport is also quite convenient, but you would have to make your own way to Antequera from there.

Do I need a hire car?

Not in the town or to travel between cities. The hotel Finca Eslava has an excellent restaurant and is a 20-minute walk or short taxi ride from the centre of town. The townhouses are in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the town centre. However, a hire car is a good idea if you want to visit country locations or explore Andalucia.

How far away is the nearest town?

The centre of Antequera is a 20-minute walk away. It is a large town - one of the oldest, best kept and most beautiful in Andalucia. It has all of the amenities that one is likely to need, including lots of shops, parks, museums, and a castle.

Do you charge a supplement for single travelers?

No. The prices on this website are usually for single occupancy. However, we usually give a discount to those who wish to share a room.

What's the difference between a Fitness and a weight-loss break?

The difference is in the emphasis given to weight-loss. A fitness break is focused on improving fitness, with due regard to good nutrition. On a weight-loss break, the menu is more carefully controlled.

How many other people will be on the fitness or weight-loss holiday?

The courses are organised for up to 6 people.

If you would prefer, we can organise a totally private course, during which you would have our totally undivided attention.

How long is a fitness or weight-loss course?

As long as you want. We have achieved great results in as little as 4 nights; many guests stay for 3 to 4 weeks.

How fit do I need to be?

There is no minimum requirement, but courses are organised to suit guests of similar abilities and interests. We must know in advance if you are unable to hike over fairly rough terrain or are not willing to ride a bike.

If you are very concerned about your health or level of fitness, you may wish to consider joining us for a private course.

What can I expect to achieve?

Whether you choose a fitness or a weight-management course, you will not only improve your fitness, but also lose weight, de-stress and really get started on a fitter and healthier way of life. You will also be equipped with the knowledge & confidence to continue to work towards your own health & fitness goals when you leave.

What exercises & activities do you do; and do I have to do them all?

The courses are generally based on cycling (road or mountain biking), hiking and power-walking or running. We also do circuit training, weight training and cardiovascular routines using a variety of gym equipment. Optional activities included in the price of every course include swimming and classes in spinning, pilates and aerobics.

None of the activities are compulsory; we will always attempt to tailor your course to what you want to do. However, if you cannot hike or cycle, or you absolutely hate the gym, you may wish to consider arranging a private course.

What does a typical day consist of?

Most days will start with a "good morning" limber-up session, including a short run or power-walk before breakfast. There will then usually be a hike or cycle before lunch. After lunch there will normally be resistance or CV training and a flexibility session.

There will also be the opportunity for swimming, spinning, pilates or aerobics classes and massage . There will also be discussion sessions on fitness training & nutrition.

What is the food like?

The hotel Finca Eslava prides itself on its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Andalucia. We have worked with the chefs to produce a menu which incorporates many local specialties, especially tailored to the needs of our clients. The meals provide all that you need to fuel your fitness activities, whilst being carefully measured and prepared to support your weight-loss goals.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

Yes.

What extras do I have to pay for?

Your course fee includes everything from airport collection to drop-off, except for some items of personal equipment, soft drinks and alcohol. The only extras are those activities detailed on the prices page. These include: motivational coaching, pro-tennis coaching, quad biking and horse riding.

What times should I arrive and depart?

You can arrive and depart at any time. Prices are based on arrival and departure in the morning, allowing for first meal lunch and last meal breakfast. This also allows for fitness tests to be completed during the first afternoon.

It is no problem at all if you will be arriving or departing outside of these times. Price reductions and supplements will apply as follows:

A reduction of 25€ if you can't make it for the afternoon session on the first day.

A supplement of 25€ for departure after lunch on the final day.
